The Symphony of the City

A friend and I went to visit the Whitney Museum, where they are showcasing a fascinating fine and performance art exhibit by Christian Marclay.  The exhibit explores the relationship between sound and vision (deep apologies to Mr. Marclay for the oversimplification).  At one end of the floor, various photos of onomatopoeias from around the city were flashed up on screen (above).

Another wall was entirely taken up by a chalkboard, where visitors could scribble their own notes (musical, although some visitors clearly took the other meaning and wrote messages like "remember to ask her out!").  Live performers would periodically play what was on the wall.  When we were visiting, the live performers were playing the music decorating various pieces of clothing that live actors wore.

And look what I found on the chalkboard!  The perfect photo for a New York photoblog (and I didn't even write it myself).

Upper East Side.  On Canon Powershot.
